Delaware Theatre Company Receives Grant From Delaware Community Foundation

Delaware Theatre Company (DTC) is pleased to announce that it received a $25,000 grant from Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) from the 2018 Capital Grants Program. These funds will support DTC's New Visions, New Voices, New Ventures campaign. This grant is made from the available income of the State of Delaware Fund and the DCF field-of-interest endowment funds.

The grant provided by the DCF will finish the last stage of renovating DTC's HVAC system. Executive Director Bud Martin says, "We're extremely grateful to DCF for supporting our theatre alongside 17 other organizations. Together, we can build community through education and community engagement activities and contribute to the economic vitality of the state of Delaware."

In 1985, Delaware Theatre Company moved into its current home at 200 Water Street in Wilmington. Over 30 years later, the facility is in need of major improvements and repairs. DTC'sNew Visions, New Voices, New Ventures campaign is seeking to raise $4 million, of which $2,480,000 (62%) has been raised to date. This money will allow DTC to renovate and repair the theatre including the stage deck, roof, fire curtain, drafting technology, stage lighting, and sound system. It also supports the New Ventures Fund, which enhances the performance and production value in DTC shows.

Delaware Theatre Company is dedicated to producing theatre of the highest professional quality, thereby enriching the vitality of our area through artistic programming, education, and community service. DTC remains the only theatre in the state developing new works for Broadway. Since 2015, they have worked on Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Outgoing Tide, Because of Winn-Dixie, Maurice Hines is Tappin' Thru Life, Diner, The War of the Roses, and White Guy on the Bus¸ two of which successfully transferred Off-Broadway.
